At 65, I decided it was time to take control of my own future. After years of facing challenges with both physical disability and mental health, I realized that traditional employment opportunities weren’t always accessible. Rather than giving up, I chose to create my own path.

In March of 2025, after conversations with my wife, the idea for a lawn care business was born. By April 2025, Sharkie’s 1-Armed Yard Maintenance was up and running — and it has been an incredibly rewarding journey ever since.

Yes, some jobs can be challenging with just one arm, but I take pride in getting the work done right and showing that determination matters more than obstacles.

As for the name? Since 2016, friends have called me Sharkie thanks to the tiger shark tattoo on my stump. It only felt natural to carry that name into the business — and the rest is history.

Since then the company has only grown. Expanding into multiple new fields, with several more hands on deck. Though continuing the same passion for good quality hard work.
